Outside the downtown loop there are many historic neighborhoods in Durham with their own stories of growth, decline, and renewal. These “commercial neighborhood districts” in this map are important nodes in the community that have the physical configuration and neighborhood proximity for walkable, bikeable, more community-centric spaces outside the immediate downtown area.
